After the Tour

Wow, what a trip! We were so tired we slept most of the way home on the plane, and we slept that night too! We had an easy and uneventful trip back to the States. We like to eek out every single day of vacation time, so we returned to work the very next day. This is probably not recommended, but for us being zombies at work that week was worth an extra day in Europe!

I don't know about anyone else, but I always get the post-vacation blues. I am excited to get home to see my dogs and sleep in my own bed, but the reality check comes quickly and it isn't long before I am dreaming of being back in Europe. The best way I have found to deal with this is to jump straight into organizing and editing my photographs. I post some online for friends and family to see, and I use Shutterfly to make a photo book of our trip. This allows me to bask in the happy memories. I sit there in awe as I sift through the photos and can't believe we were really there!

Prior to leaving the tour, we made an email list so we could keep in touch. For several weeks after the trip people would email us links to their photos of the trip. It was great fun to look through other peoples' pictures and see things from a different perspective.

Another great way to deal with the sadness of leaving Europe is to begin planning the next trip! We love to travel, so we are always planning a new destination. Even if it is a long way off, it gives us something to look forward to. We planned a few weekend getaways near home and we picked out our next tour - Best of Italy in 17 Days here we come! We are hoping to go in the Fall of 2016!

We try to find foods similar to what we loved in Europe to help us remember the fun we had. David surprised me with macarons one day!
